Drawing Groundwater
Fran Callen

20 June - 1 August
The record of Earth’s history is preserved
in rocks, the narrative of mark-making
similarly preserved within drawing.

Drawing Groundwater explores connections between motherhood, drawing, and geological processes, inspired
by field trips and hydrogeological research by Dr Margaret Shanafield into the impacts of climate change on groundwater recharge.

Incorporating found pigments, recycled materials, and the incidental marks created through water and domestic routines, the exhibition reflects on intergenerational
learning, environmental responsibility, and our relationship with the natural world.

Special thanks to Boandik Elder Auntie Michelle for sharing knowledge and ochre throughout the project.
